Sustainable travel isn’t just about reducing impact — it’s also about giving back to nature. DFDS has been doing exactly that for 16 years through its partnership with ORCA

ORCA is a charity dedicated to protecting marine wildlife. But how do you make that mission visible and relevant to a younger audience?

DFDS has worked with ORCA for over 16 years to raise awareness about the importance of healthy seas and marine wildlife protection. Onboard ferries between IJmuiden and Newcastle, the ORCA Wildlife Centre offers free excursions and interactive activities where passengers — both young and old — can learn about dolphins, whales, and other sea creatures in the North Sea. The goal: to inspire the next generation with the wonders of ocean wildlife and highlight what can be spotted during a DFDS ferry journey.

To engage younger audiences, we partnered with presenter Fenna Ramos to create an upbeat and educational two-part video series. In the videos, Fenna explores the ORCA Wildlife Centre and joins an ORCA expert on deck to search for marine life at sea. The videos were shared across DFDS’s social media channels and supported with paid promotion. The campaign generated strong engagement and positioned DFDS as a socially responsible travel brand with a deep commitment to nature and education.
